Painting with gouache is new to me. I loved the process, but I’m not 100% happy with the finished product. The color palette didn’t turn out and I feel it’s a bit messy. I went over a couple of areas and felt like the paper was going to rip. But I’m going to keep trying. Now that I have done the painting and the scanning once, I feel a little more confident. Wonderful course! Very easy to follow along.
This is great, thank you so much for sharing your final piece! It is quite a complicated scene and you’ve captured it so well. In particular the way you’ve handled both reflections and the shadow on the wet pavement is beautiful. I would just watch their respective. Make sure all of your vertical lines are vertical and parallel with each other, some of your doors and windows are leaning slightly. You’ve mentioned it feeling messy, I wonder what brush you are using. It could just be a case of practice and getting used to the feeling of the paint, but a different brush might also help you handle the paint easier.
