Those sketches have a lot of potential to become great embroideries!
The light and shadow work is well under way, I suggest you continue shading a little more in the eye area, the sides of the nostrils and the junction of the face and neck to generate even more volume, let's see what you like. It seems. Also generating shadow with a darker shade of gray in the sector where the hair meets the face makes them detach a little from each other.
I think the best option for the project is... both! :) in your time but both are beautiful to turn into a painting.
However, the first one is the one that catches my attention the most because of that large look that is very well done and also the entire space of the shirt is perfect for the embroidery map.
