SIFNOS ISLAND
Sifnos is an Aegean island, a tiny land of bright light and dark shadows.
The cubic houses, the triangular dovecote openings, the circles of threshing floors and windmills, and the domes and arches of churches, are all locked together like a jigsaw of geometric shapes snugly and harmoniously connected by the meandering paths of stone. Simple, basic, fundamental, elemental.
To create the designs used in this project I have drawn on the most basic geometric elements, to express this simplicity. However, there are very few straight lines here, so I have used curves and slightly irregular shapes to give the design a more hand-drawn and organic look, in keeping with the Sifnian aesthetic.

Professeur PlusDear @lynkalogirou,
I've taken a look at your project and, how can I say it...uhmm...it is absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I read your rationale and seen the pictures of your research, everything has a solid conceptual foundation and shows your capability to see patterns where it is not that obvious. Technically is also well crafted, the sketchings show clearly the effort you put into the project, the patterns are well-styled, and I appreciate those little details of the smoothed angles. Your presentation is great too, you made very clear all the work you did and the foundations of your concept. The hierarchy is good too. Literally, I don't have any criticisms or advice to give you, your project is solid rock! You nailed this course, this is one of the best projects so far. You must be proud of yourself :-)

@giorgia_smiraglia
Giorgia, I am overwhelmed by your response. Honestly, I didn't expect this, I'm almost crying! As soon as I uploaded the project I regretted it, because I started to see things I want to change. First I noticed that the photo of the Illustrator template didn't upload. Secondly, the blue is wrong, on my laptop it looks like blue, but on my phone I can see it's teal. Also, I showed my family, and one daughter said that the triangle shape on the lid looks like delta (the Greek letter) and the other daughter said that it looks like the recycling symbol. I have changed the lid about 20 times!
So you can imagine how I feel now with such positive feedback from you.
I have done quite a few courses and I can honestly say that this one was way beyond my expectations. I learnt so much and I know I will watch the videos again and again, as you have a really special way of teaching. I love your humour and your deep insights into how to observe. Thank you SO MUCH.

Professeur Plus@lynkalogirou oh sweetheart, you have the typical attitude of the best designers: always feeling not being good enough. What can I say, this is the price to pay for being dedicated people. And thank you so much for sharing with me how much you liked the course, that is very rewarding for me :-) Coming back to your project, surely any project could always be improved, but that would become an endless game. I appreciated that you showed your project to your family, and it is important to get feedback from a fresh eye. But keep also in mind that there will be always an objection from someone on our design choices, because design is not mathematics, so there will always be room for subjective interpretation. Of course, the more we pay attention to the feedbacks, the more we reduce the situations of criticism. But sometimes you also need to dare, otherwise any design turn flat. You did great, and I believe you will improve even further, exactly because of your thirst for knowledge and the will of challenging yourself!
