This is my project, at long last. I didn't want to upload before I finished the whole sketchbook as I was afraid I might stop working on it if I uploaded too early.
At first I was struggling a little filling the sketchbook. I wanted it to be "perfect" (whatever that is) and I felt if I had known that I would connect ideas later, I would have arranged the pages in a different way. I also felt that I was overdoing it, that it wasn't going to look good... blablabla yadayadayada... that interior censoring voice!
But Laura's comments and explanations are so helpful. The idea of the sketchbook being a playground really put me in a different mindset and I got really excited just playing around.
I allowed myself to be led by the motifs in the book. The tangram, the cats, the fish, they all kept reappearing by themselves, while the quetzal and the cutlery had to be nudged somewhat (The cutlery weren't very excited in the first place, so no surprise here.)
I am glad I discovered the missing link between the quetzal and the trout. The scientific world has something to be grateful for now.
I also really like cutting holes in the paper - thus, possibly, creating a hole in the space-time-continuum and allowing a cat I painted 20 years ago to reappear and share their thoughts with me.
Thank you, Laura, for this wonderful course. I have already bought the other course you offer and will dive in at one point when the time is right.

Professeur PlusWhat a brilliant series of images! Thank you for sharing them and I’m sorry it’s taken me a little while to catch up on giving feedback over the busy Christmas period. There is such playfulness here - both in your techniques and the connecting of disparate ideas throughout the book. Psychedelic Blood is one of my favourites! Super eyes! I love how you’re cutting the paper too, distorting the whole format of the sketchbook, playing with space and windows giving peeks of what comes before and after. A liberated collection of work which has been so exciting to see in its development. Well done.
