How nice to see the first mockup project finished! Congratulations :) Very well done.
The abstract elements you include, such as 1:12, 1:34, 1:49 and many more, I really like. I think they enrich the book enormously, adding an element that, at first glance, could be somewhat disconcerting but that very soon you begin to relate (in a non-literal way, that's just the interesting thing) with the images in the right booklet. As a viewer, this is the type of decision that I am very grateful for and that also lets me know that the conceptualization stage has been very well worked out.
I think you have very good page layout, that is, the way the images are presented based on their role in the narrative. For brief moments, I thought that maybe you could risk a little more in this regard.
You are ready to fine-tune the model: you already have the concept and the way to present it materially. Now you can move on to the next stage where you fine-tune the editing, the sequence, and decisions as to what else to include or remove, always based on the concept you have already defined. In this sense, including some kind of short text, or perhaps short sentences at strategic moments or places in the sequence of the book, could help it not be too cryptic (without going to the opposite extreme of saying it all and simplifying and flattening the work) .
Sure you know the work of David Jiménez, right? Also, you may be interested in taking a look at the book Conditions by Andrés Marroquín Winkelman: https://vimeo.com/14342758
Congratulations! Thank you for doing your homework so thoroughly and for sharing it with everyone.
Dear, congratulations on your work. I find very particular the way you are handling the scale, the rhythm and the shots. It feels like a mix between a very personal recovery or reconstruction work. A kind of search that enters a place of memory and comes out again. In fact I perceive that there is a reading rhythm that is proposed as a pulse or breath, I do not know how this could be approached. At the end of the video when you have already reached the last leaves, I thought you were going to come back undoing the path, like a trail of breadcrumbs, or undoing a lattice. On this I think it would be attractive to explore the probable encounters and disagreements between each image and its reflection, such as temporary jumps between mirrors or something like that. Thanks for sharing your process is very inspiring. Cheers!
@marielasancari thank you very much for your really constructive comment.
Totally agree with the possibility of risking more in the page setting, not in such a structured way as at the moment.
David Jimenez's work is not very deep, but he did know it, what I didn't know is Andrés Marroquin's book that you advise me and that has been very positive for me to see, contributing many ideas.
Now, as you say, a new stage begins with important decisions that are not easy for me.
