Hi Rachel. I just want to say an ENORMOUS thank you for THE MOST FANTASTIC COURSE! I learnt so much and had such fun. I achieved exactly what I wanted, which was to understand colour a lot more, and use it well, and also to use texture to create a more vibrant illustration. I played a lot with Hue in Photoshop, and the image ended up being warmer than I had initially planned. But I loved the colour of her hair, and the way it ended up making her the focal point. I added the few cream bits for accents, and it really brought the image alive. My manual illustration was very bland. The other thing that I was really pleased about was that the palette is completely balanced, and no matter what hue I applied to it, it remained balanced. You have taught me the importance of contrast. I get excited with certain colours and then never check whether the contrast is good. I can see now that it is extremely important.
I hope you do another course really soon. I will be first in the queue!
Thanks again for everything. Best wishes, Sandi

Professor PlusSandi, thank you so much for your lovely feedback! It makes me incredibly happy to know, that this course helped you further your knowledge about color and texture. It has been wonderful to see your creative process and how you’ve thought about color and texture to make this final scene come to live. It is such a lively and yet, through your use of greys, serene scene. There is so much to discover in your use of texture, and still, you’ve managed to make the main character stand out. What an outstanding project and I can absolutely see it as a book!

@rachelkatstaller Hi Rachel. Thank you for your fabulous message. I am over the moon that you think my project is outstanding! You have made my day!!! I am really keen to develop it into a book. With your technique I think I could make the different spreads very versatile, which is something I always struggle with. I have tried a few books, but the spreads are a bit repetitive and boring. But now using the pencil crayon, I can see how to use more white space which will definitely work better in a book. So thank you again for sharing all your knowledge and creating such a fun and informative course. Best wishes, Sandi
