In June 2022 this Self Portrait - plus a selection of smaller paintings - were included in the Contemporary British Portrait Painters (CBPP) summer show. Other participating artists include five previous winners of the National Portrait Gallery’s prestigious BP Portrait Awards (Miriam Escofet, James Hague, Philip Harris, Peter Monkman and Andrew Tift) and three winners of Sky Arts Artist of the Year (Samira Addo, Curtis Holder and Duncan Shoosmith) – together with many of the most recognisable and cutting-edge names in contemporary portraiture.
The CBPP was founded in 2018 by artist Ian Goldsmith, who saw the lack of a strong independent society to promote and support portraiture in Britain. The group has already attracted press attention, including two large features in Artists & Illustrators magazine. To date, they have also staged three smaller scale exhibitions. Perceptions (2020) and Contact (2021) went on display at The Space in Cass Art Islington, while Life in Lockdown (2021) was shown at The Old Fire Station in Oxford, accompanied by an exclusive video walk-though by BBC arts correspondent Will Gompertz.
The CBPP, which has a particularly strong presence on social media, offers a platform for the mutual support and promotion of artists, whilst providing a growing worldwide hub for fans of portraiture. Members are accepted on the quality of their work alone, not on the basis of their art world connections or any other criteria.
The exhibition ran from June 11th-18th 2022 at The Department Store, Brixton, London, UK.

I am enjoying this class and loved seeing all of the 100 faces. This is what I am interested in, painting faces of all kinds and ages.
