Congratulations on completing the course! Thank you so much for signing up and taking the time to work your way through all the lessons. I hope you learned a lot, and that you're proud of your final project.
I see that for your painting you used one of my paintings as a reference. I hope that this helped you in translating the subject and seeing how the concepts from the lessons directly apply to creating a painting. I can tell that you followed each lesson carefully, paying attention to the process as you went--good job!
One area that I think you can improve on is working in mass rather than line. Much of the modelling seems to be built up with tiny lines--more like the hatching we would use in a pencil drawing than the planes we should be using in an oil painting. Remember to use the body of the brush (not just the tip!) in applying your paint, and to start with as simple and flat an application of colour as possible for the block-in before attempting to turn the forms.
For your next project I would highly encourage you to paint another bird, but this time either from life (a taxidermied bird model) or from one of my reference photos, so that you can experience the process of translating the subject yourself, and making your own aesthetic decisions as you go.
