I'm making a video of my paper preparation process and will post it (or a link to it if I can't actually post it) in the forum when I finish. I have some computer problems at the moment and can't edit videos. I've posted my process in written form in the Forum.
At the bottom of this posting are three more drawings that I did after I finished the course. @michelbajona , you asked me to let you know when I applied this technique to other drawings.
1. The first is of the same photo of my daughter, Hannah, that I used for my initial project. I made the drawing smaller this time so I could fit everything in. I'm using this as my project photo now.
2. The second is of my older daughter Emily.
3. The third is of my son-in-law, i.e. Emily's husband. I've used a bit of blue, red, and yellow ochre Art Graf on this one, so not entirely Renaissance. I had a bit of trouble with this one because I experimented too much. But if I don't experiment, I don't learn.
.
3. This is the photo that I used for my project. The model is my youngest daughter @hellsmillions (instagram) and the photographer is @parkranger_tom.
4. This is the start of my drawing. It has a big problem. The far-side (i.e. the left side of her face) is far too wide. I didn't notice it until I took a photograph. So I fixed it before I moved on with my drawing. I knew I'd be unhappy with the finished result unless I fixed it.
The drawing size is 26.5 x 36 cm. I used a HB pencil, a black charcoal pencil and a sanguine charcoal pencil. I also used a white chalk pencil, but it wasn't gripping to the paper, so I used ArtGraf white Carbon which I wet and applied with a fine brush to add the thin white hairs around her face and in her hair.

Professor PlusA wonderful project Linda!!!
I love that you have chosen a loved one to create your portrait and that you worked with her on the pose and composition.
The all process of paper preparation is so well explained that we should add a topic in the forum for this.
On the work itself, congratulations it is very intimate and extremely artistic. I would tone down some whites in the hair because a lot of the attention goes there while it should focus on the features that you rendered so well with a lot of emotion.
So try to decide where you want to drive attention and be less specific in the other areas. Lines drive a lot of attention, maybe a solution is to use masses instead in the hair area and less lines.
Congratulations and if you post more remember to mention me like this @michelebajona so I can see it

@michelebajona Thank you for your feedback Michele. I see what you mean and I'll take that advice on board. I will tone down the whites in the hair - maybe with a wash of ArtGraf water soluble graphite. I have started another drawing of my daughter, same photo reference, same size paper but smaller drawn image and therefore different. i might have to get a new computer before I can put the video together. I had to do a safe-mode restart and system restore to get in here tonight. The computer problems are becoming a bit too regular.

@michelebajona Hi Michele, I had a few more attempts - five in total. I've experimented a bit and then had to use other materials (Art Graf carbon) to rescue the male figure from an application of too much walnut ink.
I won't post anymore up here because it will become annoying for everyone, I imagine.
