I've really enjoyed the course and plan to go on learning to make kumiko. In the end the hash tags while trimming the ends were breaking a lot so I gave up and made just enough to put them around. I was using nordic pine wood and it worked well, except for these hash tags, I think the fibres are too big and they tear apart... Will experiment other woods. For the hash tags I also used a bit different technique. I ripped the blank stripes first and then glued them with tape and proceeded to make notches and cut them. Could also have impacted the results. Thanks a lot for the course!

Awesome work! Close to finishing up my first project. Completed all of the first diagonals; now for the fiddly bits.

Hi Jean Carlos -
When I say 'fiddly bits', I'm referring to the hinge and locking pieces that fill in around the diagonal pieces to make the hemp leaf design. The diagonals are all 45 degree cuts, but the hinge and locking pieces are slightly more difficult at 22.5 degrees and 67.5 degrees. I purchased Matt Kenney's kumiko book, which goes into a lot of additional detail. I highly recommend the book if you're interested in kumiko.
I know your original comment was in Spanish, so I hope that the automatic translation on this website is clear. Best of luck with your kumiko projects!

I also used a different wood, which was not solid enough to cut the hachtags in 45 degrees. I then created a jig, using some of Matt's ideas, and sanded the pieces to the desired degree. It worked very well. When I publish the finished work in a couple of days, I'll include some photos of the jig.
