What a wonderful and inspiring workshop Jesus! Thank you so much! it has been such a rich ride! I am now, as you might see in my final project, looking for integration of your lessons. One drawing leads to the next. I think 'following the joy of the doing' is my biggest lesson. Enjoying the process. Having fun! Combining materials. Experimenting. Thank you!!!

Professor PlusHi Leontine, thank you very much for sharing this sample of the images you developed during the course. The animals made with paper cut are very interesting: the construction of the figures and the use of color. I like the nuances that you created by blurring the colors, you used the transparency qualities of the oil to integrate them one with each other. And you made balanced paper cuts, on the contour and inside the figures, which generated precised whites for the details. If you were interested, in the future perhaps you could create a small series of animals, using the same color palette, a kind of fabulous animal bestiary, for instance (you have already three here!). You could include both paper cut animals and collage-based animals into this series. It was a right guess that for the garden you used a light background because the color of the drawing stands out and looks balanced. I also think that you could continue drawing a lot of gardens, your plants are very original. The textured paper in which you drew the owl produced a good result at the end. As for the final exercises, what I appreciate the most is that you have explored and experimented, both with the techniques and on a conceptual level. At first you created an image with various elements, with various materials and colors, then you let it rest for a bit and refined it in composition, color and concept. You kept the elements that you liked the most, add new elements, and the image gained in strength. Perhaps the figure on the left (the lady behind the chess player hand) takes a bit of balance out of the final composition. You could try placing a white paper cutout to cover this figure to see how the composition works and would look without erasing the lady. I am very happy that you liked the exercises. I hope you have enjoyed them.

Hi Jesus,
Thank you so much for you long and precise reaction on my work! Wow! Your course is still rippling through my work. What I love in your work is the rugged (as I call it) way you work, outspoken and a clear choice in subject. I tend to hesitate in choosing, wanting to try everything in one image. I agree with you that my last image (the hand-lady and the horse-man playing chess) is stronger without the extra lady on the left. Thank you for making me aware of that! What makes an image stronger? What can better be left out? That's such an interesting question. I am experimenting a lot since your course. With different kinds of paint, working big and small, using just a few colors of crayons ( and noticing in the end that I could have better used even less colors!)
Still figuring out my style, my material and ways to express me the most free and joyful, I am very happy I followed your course. I am working today on a very large painting: acrylic paint on paper. Just for the fun of it. 3 meters x 2.10 meters large. I'll put some photo's in my final piece!
Have a lovely day and thank you so much for your great course and personal, kind and stimulating responses!
Leontine
