I did try various different coloring ideas. My main focus was to create combination of a few powerful colors.I focused on the density of the textures in the elements. The horse has more details than the truck but both of them work.
I saw your progress on this project and it's looking amazing. Very detailed. Nice colour combination. Since there is so much texture, I think it was smart to use only a few colours, so it doesn't get overwhelming.
I liked the effect of the many circles between the elements.
One thing to check: on the isolated versions over the orange background, the outlines seem to be thicker than on your main composition. Remember that when scaling, you need to activate: Illustrator/Preferences/General/Scale Strokes & Effects
