"Snow" (Tutorial Painting)

This painting is the demo for my "How to Paint: Snow" TikTok tutorial! It is my most precious of all the demo paintings that I've done because it marked a really big shift in my teaching career on the internet.

Before making and filming this painting, I had been in severe burnout for months. It was hard for me to create for myself, let alone create for a community online. But there was one idea that I kept having over and over again; an idea for an easy step-by-step process for painting snow.

I remember that day it took me a lot of courage to finally sit down and perform the "experiment" based on the painting process I had created in my head. I wasn't sure if it would work, but I filmed it anyway. Little did I know, I had just made the most successful tutorial I would ever post on my page. (Still to this day!)

Art is all about taking chances on yourself and putting value into your inspiration. You never know what can come out of trying a new idea or a new technique. This painting represents that lesson being learned for me!
