She has illustrated and published multiple children’s books, one of which has been translated into over 20 languages worldwide.
In this course, Ingela teaches you how to design a children’s book filled with joyful drawings from scratch. Discover how to illustrate cheerful images that kids engage with using a combination of digital and analog tools. Brighten up your own children’s book with a vintage twist.

Ingela P Arrhenius is a Swedish illustrator who has over 30 years of experience in her field. She has been drawing and making things for as long as she can remember, and first started her creative career in an advertising agency. From there, she took part-time classes in everything from oil painting to drawing before going on to study graphic design full-time at Bergh School of Communication. After graduating, she set up her business as a freelance illustrator, working on magazines, book covers, advertising campaigns, and more before publishing her first children’s book in 1994.
Since then, Ingela has published 10 books in collaboration with her scriptwriter husband and worked with a number of brands on international projects, including stamps for The Swedish Post and a series of limited-edition beauty products for Biotherm. She has also been commissioned to create print patterns for fabrics, wallpaper, stationery, packaging, home accessories, toys, and more.

Taking Domestika's 'Vintage Illustration for Children's Books' course was like a journey into the past, from a culture that is somewhat different from my own. The teacher takes us through a universe of traditional illustration techniques and shows us how to apply them to create characters and scenes with a timeless charm. The hands-on project is challenging and helped me improve my composition and develop a more personal style. I recommend this course to anyone who is passionate about illustration with a vintage touch.
