My project for course: 2D Animations: Make Your Character Illustrations Move

On this Domestika course, I wanted to create a character where I could combine different techniques and use various effects from After Effects and also combine some frame by frame animation.

Sometimes it's difficult to know where to start, so I set myself a few key rules to follow while creating this illustration:

1. Dancing Pose: Sometimes you can transmit 'movement' but drawing things in movement in the first place, so finding the character positioned in the middle of an action could be an interesting start.
2. Animal Companion: I think it would be interesting to add a secondary character in the scene.
3. Pattern: Somehow I would like to add a pattern to some area of the character, possibly the clothes so that these look more interesting.
4. Flowers & Leafs: To decorate the surrounding area around the character, I could make use of flowers and leafs.

Lastly, as a helpful guide, I will restrict my working area to something that works at a 1:1 ratio of canvas size since it will then be easier to adapt to other format sizes.
