My project for course: Children’s Illustration for Editorial Publications

When starting this project, the first thing I did was read the story and brainstorm ideas.

I thought of four different ideas: traveling to the past, traveling to the future, traveling in space and traveling in nature. After coming up with these ideas, I started sketching.

It was hard to choose a favorite sketch, but finally I decided on the dinosaur sketch. I cleaned up the sketch making a few changes. I decided to have Pía ride a dinosaur in the water instead of a leaf.

Next, I picked the colors by making a rough color sketch.

Finally, I started coloring and adding details. Initially, a drew a portal in the sketch, but after coloring I felt it looked better without it.

I was really happy with the finished project and I had so much fun drawing this project that I decided to finish the other sketches too.
