Since I am a digital artist (animation and game design academic), I am so used to work with computers and tablets. So it is a little hard for me to use traditional mediums. But I really like the works of mixed media artists that can use both digital apps and traditional elements together. That is why I chose this course: to get used to work without the comfort of the digital media.
For my final piece, I wanted to create an illustration of myself and my dad playing video games. He was the one who made me who I am as an artist today. He made me love video games and animation. He always supported me when I wanted to study arts. He was always there for me and I lost him 4 months ago to cancer. It really devastated me and I am still trying to recover from it. I know there are things that I could improve but drawing an illustration in the memory of him definitely made me feel better.
As a digital artist, I have some specific elements and styles I use when I create characters. What I realized is that it is not completely possible for me to use that exact same style when working with pencils, markers, pastels etc. So I tried new styles while trying to stay true to myself at the same time… I hope that you enjoyed my work!
UPDATE: I have turned my work into a poster for an exhibition and wanted to share with you guys!

Docent PlusThis is so great! I feel inspired by all that you did! I really love the experimentation page. Your did so much! I love how you made it all your own. Your characters are really lovely and I can see that they are rooted in memories and observation. Well done!
