I think the more you simplify the better you get. I highly recommend you check out the work of Alex Toth and the Mazzuchelli from "Batman Year One" (especially if you get a good black and white edition.
The work is inked on the proof sheet. I have done it with calibrated markers. In the other projects there are both feather and calibrated. Thank you very much for your comment.
