My project for course: Oil Painting: Explore Creative Portraiture

Here she is, my kimono lady. It took me a while to muster enough courage to actually paint her. I don’t know what I was scared of! Painting her had its challenges but I followed the course videos and it turned out better than expected. I have a lot to improve on though. Mostly muddy dull colours and my brushwork or in my case, lack of it. It’s hard to be gestural and expressive with your brushstrokes when you are trying so hard. And I was painting quite small because I wanted to display the finished piece in this gold frame that I thrifted from the charity shop. I have learnt so much valuable technique from your course Isabel, thank you for being such a generous and inspiring teacher! I knew from the moment I previewed your course that I wanted to complete it. I am glad I did and I look forward to implementing all its lessons again in my future projects.
