Wow! This piece is very expressive. I love your looseness with your strokes-- they feel fluid but intentional. Your palette here is also wonderful-- while the colors are clearly invented, they still faithfully represent your subject, and the neutral background and brown tones throughout help ground it.
My only feedback here is to work your highlights a bit more-- you could add a little shine in the eye to help pop your focal point. One of the things that really works in your piece is your shape hierarchy (with large flat areas in the body, ears, and background), so I think just a tiny dot here and there would be enough. I can't tell from the image if the white areas on the face/snout are pure white, but if so, an alternative would be to add more dark areas around that eye instead if you're afraid white would compete with the rest of the face.
Overall, an excellent project! I'm glad you made it your own-- the outcome is really great.
