Final project of the Watercolor Portrait Notebook course
Well, here we have arrived with more or less success.
This is my final project, although I threaten to upload another one any day now.
In the palette I have used English red, yellow ocher, natural sienna, cobalt blue and sepia on fine-grained Arches paper, yes, the one you like @carlosrodriguezcasado , which I had saved as gold on cloth. I had a problem with that kind of cane and applied some white acrylic to bring out the shine
I have given him more affection than profession.
I would say that it has been attractive. Of course, Dalí's face is very peculiar and you barely put on his mustache and his slightly wide eyes almost that you recognize him.
In short, this course has enchanted me. The chapter on basic proportions has given me a new perspective when taking a portrait, and that the elements are not dancing at their own pace on my face.
What are we going to say about the teacher? Well, he is someone as human as a great illustration professional. Always ready to help in doubts. With great knowledge and patience.
If you have not seen him paint, I advise you to make an Instagram account and attend his live shows at 17:30 (Spanish time). It is a delight how it brings water and color to its place.
Guys, see you at the Watercolor Caricature course.
@hvamac You have arrived with great success! I love your project, and you can see the good choice of paper;)
It is not only the mustache and the bulging eyes, as you say, that make Dalí recognizable, but also the distance between each element of the face, the fineness of the nose, the volumes and brightness of the skin ... It is a wonderful portrait . And although I am a bit nagging about using acrylic, in this case it has been great and has managed to raise the brightness of that kind of cane without distracting attention from all the work on the face.
Thank you, Héctor, for having made the most of this course and for your active participation in the forum! Always aware of messages from colleagues and encouraging those who shared their work.
Also thank you very much for the promotion! Haha. I tell you that those direct from Instagram will return next week, although I have not made the big announcement yet! Shhh ... Hope to see you there;)
