To comment, make sure that you mind your STRUCTURES - try to picture the eye ball in the socket, and question every line. The lines must subscribe to the construction that you sculpturally understand as correct. See my annotations in white.
Then you must use these to interpret the light and shadow on your sitter's eye forms. See the tones of grey in the above eye close up image.
Your view is frontal - I want you to take a look at the Bastien Lepage frontal view, which includes a drawing as well as a painting. His form sense is amazing!
