'Literary Houses II' (2021) is a traditional ink drawing project that brings together my two passions, architecture and literature, with a surrealist twist - oversized portraits of great authors of literature, towering over the houses they lived in.
Featured in this project are William Shakespeare and the Tudor house where he was born and spent his childhood, in Stratford-upon-Avon; Jane Austen and Chawton House, a charming cottage in Hampshire where she lived and wrote many of her novels, including Pride and Prejudice; Charles Dickens and Gads Hill Place, the only one of the many houses he lived in that he ever owned; the Bronte Sisters and the Hawthorn Parsonage where they were born and lived for most of their lives; and finally F.M. Dostoevsky with his country house in Staraya Russa, where, amongst other works, he wrote his magnum opus - ‘The Brothers Karamazov’.
