This is my first 'proper' attempt at original watercolour and there's a lot of room for improvement, but the process was fun. I may try some other takes at it until I'm truly satisfied.
For your first proper attempt this is great! And I'm so glad you're enjoying the process, that's key! You've got a good sense of perspective and details, and this looks like a tricky subject with a lot of unusual angles. I'll say two things for your next attempt... use more water during the initial wash of color so your paints really blend together on the page, and then don't be afraid to go much darker with shadows. This will enhance the sense of depth and make the sunlight appear brighter. Well done.
@alexhillkurtzart Many thanks for your comments Alex!! You're right, I was afraid of letting the colours run off all over the paper so I kept them too dry... some parts do look like they were coloured with markers rather than watercolours. But as you say, they can't be truly controlled and some times it's hard to reason with them! ^^'
I'm still trying my watercolour skills in other (less ambitious) projects and I hope to get back to this with more confidence. Thanks again!
