The proportions and the resemblance are fine, I think you should direct more attention to the general volumes, than to the development of the texture. Apply more shadows and highlights to bring out the three-dimensional effect of the head and features. The texture of the skin may or may not appear, but it always has to be shown as secondary information and must not acquire greater prominence than the volume. Cheers
