I suppose that the effect on the faces can be done in many ways, for us the process was a bit strange because we reached that result following an argument that makes sense with all the images, in which we looked for abstract forms that metaphorically tried represent music.
What we did was use a black and white photograph, take it to after and applying the filter of the form in positive and negative, we generated different images based on balls that worked as equalizers, then in photoshop we mixed and colored them separately, we forced the edges, adjust colors, pull here, cut there. etc etc.
If you are very interested in the process, I can detail it more, but you have to give me time.
