My project for course: Painting with Gouache: Create Poetic Illustrations

This project was something I dreamed up prior to taking this course with Cagla on gouache. I love the medium and have significant experience with it, I was fascinated to see how another artist uses it, and was curious to possibly learn new concepts with it. Thanks Cagla! I enjoyed your very meticulous and detailed teaching method, and your art is very beautiful and elaborate - which I love. I too am attracted to folk art styles and wanted to make a very serious piece come to life with light and joy. This is a piece depicting 40 birds flying upward to heavens symbolic of some atrocities that occurred in my country last month. I hope it’s as moving as it was for me to paint. I added copper leaf as well.
