This course was the right one for me. Ever since I had to paint a hand in art class at school and got a very bad grade for it, I have always avoided drawing hands - and that was 20 years ago. Thanks to Sol's course, I had the confidence to paint a hand again. But since I couldn't motivate myself to do a hand alone, I decided to paint this portrait. This did present me with some challenges, for example how to visually separate the hand from the face. I think it could be pushed further, but as a first attempt at reconciling with hands, I'm quite happy.
I'm especially excited that not only did I get inspiration and technical tips on how to paint hands, but this project also taught me some important lessons about how I can tell stories in pictures. Thank you Sol for the inspiration and encouraging lessons, I had a lot of fun doing it.
