For my final project, I've selected as my client a real food festival called Gladmat (which translates to "Happy Food" in English). I embarked on an exploration of various aspects. These included delving into the diverse range of foods on offer, the captivating city of Stavanger itself, and the vibrant ambiance of summertime.
As final brief, I have chosen to encapsulate the essence of Gladmat as follows: "Gladmat is all about...:"
- Food&Drinks
- Nature
- Summer
- Happiness
- Stavanger harbour
- People
After that, I embarked on the creative process by generating sketches for each concept. Although I had some preconceived ideas that I wanted to explore in my posters, I set them aside and pursued alternative approaches. Then, I identified the most promising concepts and proceeded to recreate them in Illustrator.
These thoughts behind each concept:
- Food & Drinks: This concept lives into the literal and tangible aspects, contemplating the various shapes and textures found in food and drinks. So I tried to think about the different shapes and textures that food and drinks have and how amazing is to combine these different flavors to make new dishes.
- Harbour: Given that the festival takes place in Stavanger, which is situated by the harbor, this concept draws inspiration from the scenic ocean vistas, boats, and charming wooden houses.
- Nature: In representing nature, I have opted for widely recognized symbols such as flowers, leaves, mountains, and other natural patterns that evoke a sense of tranquility and harmony with the environment.
- Summer: While it may be tempting to solely focus on the sun when depicting summer, I aim to convey the warmth and pleasant sensations associated with this bright season.
- People: Showing people in a unique way is a bit tricky because it's easy to fall into common ideas. But I'm trying to depict a big group of individuals, maybe from above, either in a planned or unplanned arrangement.
- Happiness: For this concept, I intend to emphasize the power of a smile and experiment with various visual interpretations to capture the essence of happiness.
Then I elaborated and tested some of the ideas to get to the final result.

Teacher PlusGreat work, well done!
Thanks for posting the process as well, I see you made some right choices along the way.
My only criticism would be to adjust the kerning between 'a' and 'd' on the title. It reads Gla dmat.
