I rediscovered embroidery at the beginning of covid, and soon started using my animals as subjects. I look to Michelle Staub in addition to a few other great artists I have found on Instagram for tips and guidance. For this piece, I combine two photographs in Photoshop before using it to get my basic outline because I did not like her tongue in the original image

Such a wonderful portrait, I wonder which colors did you use for this one? I want to make my cats portrait and her fur color looks just like your samoyed

I am horrible at keeping track of what I use, but I have done several samoyed embroideries and in a pile on my desk found a list of color suggestions for when I want them to be warm colors. I may or may not have used exactly these colors for the above embroidery, but they should be close:

This was a 6" hoop. I just posted another 7" embroidery (in an 8" hoop) I did of my male Sammy. There doesn't seem to be a way to attach the photo or a link to the photo here, but if you're interested in seeing it I think you can find it by going to my profile page
