This is now my town and I love it madly. We've been under "full lockdown" for over two weeks and I had to go out for a dog walk in order to take the reference photo. I couldn't buy my new workbook but I didn't miss out on homework. And this illustration makes me crazy with excitement because I spent a whole week sitting on it with a lot of patience to get the level of detail and the load of layers.
DEAR MARU, you have no idea how much you inspired me. The form as free as you paint has been A GREAT LESSON, since I think that my obsession with perfect lines did not let me enjoy the process. Now, thanks to you, I play to let go of my hand and relax... and the worst... I like it!
The course has seemed very good to me and with very clear explanations of what the different ways of using both gouche and brushes are, and the different mixtures as well as how to be more creative. Greetings Cagla and thanks for your clear way of teaching.
Well well, I have no words, your project is BEAUTIFUL!
I understand you perfectly when you talk about your perfection with the lines... I have illustrated with that attitude for many years of my life, that's why I recommend that you put yourself to the test and try to go out with the materials without fear of If you make a mistake using paints in a freer and more imperfect way, I assure you that you will learn a LOT from the experience of painting live.
Regarding your project, I cannot say another thing that is delicious and very beautiful. During these years teaching gouache I have seen that there are more graphic students and others more pictorial, I think it has to do with character and aesthetic affinities. I think you are in the first group, you are more graphic and you like to clearly define the elements in an orderly and precise way. It is a type of language that seems precious to me, although I ask you to try to experiment with other types of finishes that will make you leave your comfort zone. And at that point, you always learn a lot.
You have worked with a very modern and very well balanced color palette. It shows that you have invested time making mixtures of pastel colors.
I congratulate you, your drawing is full of love and affection, it is beautiful.
I very much like your style with your clearly defined lines. Your style is different from Maru's style, but it is YOUR Style. Your town is really beautiful. I hope you can enjoy it now after the lookdown is over.
Kindest regards
Andrea
