I started out using paint pens, but switched to a digital sketchbook format for the last three due to fighting to do traditional media during my downer days and also was curious how the three palettes would look compared to each other traditionally and digitally done. I won't be continuing with smalltownspells Inktober prompt after this, though will likely use it during Inktober with already ideas of a fun challenge for October... If I get my workflow and systems ironed out so I can make artwork even with in my depression mode. However, I find I like the styles I am developing both traditionally and digitally, so will definitely try to push toward doing an illustration in either my traditional or digital sketchbook once a day. For now, it is every other day due to my day job and working against my brain.

Teacher PlusHey Mandy! Thanks so much for submitting this work, and I'm so sorry it's taken me this long to get some feedback to you.
I think it's great you're taking the lessons from this course and applying them to digital work too. I always find photoshop a bit overwhelming with the limitless possibilities for colours and layers etc, but by using a limited colour scheme you've really created some great piece here. I adooore this little running char cater in the mushrooms. It's a lovely colour palette and you've contrasted the hues so well to highlight all the key elements (the textures on your brushes are great too!).
It's wonderful that you managed to make these as well as the three sketchbook pieces, it can be so hard to channel creativity during difficult times and I'm so impressed with what you've made. Your characters are so cute, and theyu really feel like they fit in the world of each picture. I looove all these purples and pinks in the Moon piece, they really give it a magical aura. The use of contrasting colours with the Owl piece is really strong too and the technique you've used for the background really makes it feel dynamic in a way that a plain block colour wouldn't. The contrast you have between dark foreground characters and lighter background elements is a great technique to have mastered, it's a really clever way to frame your main character and give the piece some depth.
Really good work you've submitted here, I'd love to see what you get up to next! Thanks so much for being part of this course, I really hope you enjoyed it.
