Hello Sergio.
Great job, ... and how well documented, that's nice!
It was really a complicated photo, especially because of the shadows, too backlit, but you have solved it very well. Looking at the process, I don't know if you haven't abused the bluish gray in the flesh color a bit, maybe that will mess up the final result a bit.
Also in the ball, you have to be careful with what color you give the shadow, the yellows should be darkened with tan (brown, ocher) when we use black or blue, yellow turns green.
If you go over your sketch again, the face has lost some of the freshness it had, when we have something that has been so good, it should stay until the end.
Anyway, congratulations, and thanks for being so generous with your photos.
Fernando.
It's true what you say that the abuse of gray has messed up the end result a bit. It can be due to two reasons, the first, the lights; too much shadow thrown. This has made my task a bit difficult. And the second, and perhaps more important if possible, the choice of material. I have lacked better brushes and perhaps have previously prepared the color range in separate pots. That way I would have avoided so much mixing on the palette. By the time I realized it, I had already encouraged myself to paint, and anything that slowed down the process would have done nothing but increase my indecision.
I hadn't thought about using tan for the shadows on top of the yellow. I take note for the next one.
I am aware that the face has not turned out as well as I would have liked. I hope to improve little by little, and I am convinced that with practice and with your advice, it will be done.
Finally, my thanks twice. For your precise corrections, much better without a doubt than many teachers I have had throughout my career. And also for this magnificent course that has managed to get me to paint again nine years later! I had very abandoned the subject of painting and needed a course like this to "start" again.
Thank you very much Miguelón. I have already gotten into painting again, and I hope, if time allows me, to get back to another girl or any other work.
Congratulations on the course.
