Dynamic Character Animation with Blender
“Congratulations! You have reached the end of this course. Thank you so much for taking part and I hope you've enjoyed it. It's now time to work on your project. This could mean finishing the animation you started by completing the course tasks or making a brand new one! Either way, I strongly suggest you take the time to gather inspiration and make a unique project of your own. Make sure to keep track of your progress with different pictures of each step. It'd be great if you could also explain the choices you've made along the way and tell us if you have any doubts. This will help me guide you better if you need advice. Here are the main steps to follow: Gathering References Find the video you want to use as reference.
Setting the Scene Open up fSpy and use a still image from the video to find the camera's position and focal length. Then, in Blender, build out the basic scene and use the match moving technique to track the camera so that it follows the motion of the video. The Board and the Character Next, use roto-animation techniques to animate the board and character over the top of the reference video. The Background Using projection mapping and the built in sky texture, we can create a realistic looking scene using the reference as our texture with accurate lighting. Styling the Characters Using Blender's particle systems and geometry nodes, create some surreal characters to make the animation stand out. Once the project is done change the render settings so that they're optimal for the scene and then render it all out! The Compilation Finally, bring the frames into your editing software and compile them, adding sound and color corrections to complete the piece. And that's all! I can't wait to see the project you come up with, so don't forget to share it in the forum. You can do so by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result and the steps that have led you to it. It would be great if you showed a picture of each step and added a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. I will be more than happy to answer any of the questions you might have along the way! I will try to get back to you as soon as possible. In the meantime, participate in the forum, comment on others' work, and interact with the community. See you there!”Partial transcription of the video
“ Final Project Thanks so much for taking this course. I hope you enjoyed the process and learned techniques you can apply to your projects. Now, some tips that are good to remember. When using fSpy, make sure to use a still frame where the subject makes contact with the ground. This makes scaling the scene easy and you won't guess where the objects are in relation to it. When animating the character, to get a smooth realistic movement, go 5 to 10 frames ahead of your next keyframe, and then you can refine the in-between frames to match the video. When projection mapping, give the mesh enou...”
