hi Petra!
Thank you so much for taking part in my course and sharing your final project!
Hope you had fun and learnt something new;)
I wanna congratulate you on your painting and thank you for sharing it with us. You went even further adding an illustrated background. It's amazing how many personal touches this portrait has - pets, volleyball, suitcase (with the stickers!), special location....
I'm happy to see you're not afraid of colour and demanding compositions. I hope you'll keep going and create more amazing artwork.
If I can give you some advice for the future, I would try to get rid of the white outline on the suitcase, maybe only keep it on the corner pieces. Don't be afraid of two darker colours next to each other. You can also play it by making a black skirt full-coverage and letting textures differentiate these two objects. On the opposite - hair is a rather subtle thing and would benefit from some texture - lighter coverage (+coloured pencil texture?)
but you should tap yourself on the shoulder, good job!
Wow thank you so much for this comment and your great advices! I am very happy with it as very often I am very "lazy", and don't make a plan and different drawings and color compositions. I do first a sketch with pencil which I can correct along the way. And you are right about the white outline. You were right about me that I was afraid to put two darker colors next to each other but next time I know that it is okay. And about the hair too, you are absolutely right! I had to put some texture. I don't know why I did it. Maybe because there was so much to think about it. Now I made a portrait of my parents. And I like what I'm doing. However your work is still like master pieces but I am happy that I have found an artist (you) which inspires me so much! I fell in love with your art and your personality.
The watercolors from Kuretake are really the best! I have White Nights and even Rembrandt but it is not like Kuretake which has a good gouache feel as well. I am so happy with this paint! 🎨
I am so sorry as I copy you enormously right now. Even the portrait from my parents is almost like if you did it (but less good as yours). I hope that I can detach myself from your style a bit so I don't have the feeling steeling your work. But for now I copy you if you don't mind 😉
