Building Birds with Shapes

There's a multitude of reasons I love birds, but one is that they have such simple geometry in their anatomy. While practicing getting better at drawing them, I started to find new, easy ways to build their poses through simple shapes like circles, squares, and 45 degree angles.

Here are a few examples, with timelapses of them being built in Adobe Illustrator with the Shape Builder tool.
