The imagery for this installation is based on an ongoing series of embroidered designs I have developed in my studio and is a record of the vital role it plays in my studio practice. SKETCH, SAMPLE, SEW utilizes tests, samples and sketches from the past 10 years of working in my studio. I arranged my embroideries of geometry, botany and household objects into clusters, mixing pieces from early experiments in 2007 with recent samples for this large-scale project. The groupings were scanned at high resolution, printed on hundreds of pieces of fabric and hand cut into irregular shapes to create a colourful collage within the treetops at Harbourfront Centre in Toronto for the summer of 2020.

I loved the course and your work is fantastic!I have a question, what if you don’t put fabric behind your embroidery stitches, only soluble paper? I looks like some of your work does not have fabric behind.
Thank you
