My project for course: Drawing Appealing Characters with Personality

Hello,
First I'd like to begin with the character description:
She is a college student studying architecture and design at university. She loves plants and owns a lot of them at home even though she may not be the best at taking care of them. She also works a part time job as a barista at a nearby café. She is interested in astronomy and enjoys stargazing as well. At the end of the day she takes time to observe the universe through her telescope. She is creative and passionate but can be a bit timid and reserved sometimes.

This is my initial reference board, of course I used more references than that but this was just to get the feeling and mood of the character,

I decided to pick the time to be around autumn which you will see influence the choice of clothes,
Here is the character exploration:

I chose the first design but changed a few things because I felt the placement of the props was off. The drafting tube was key to point out the architecture aspect as well as her bag which may have a laptop or a tablet or other tools for drawing.

I sampled colors from my reference board and adjusted them by adding a black and white filter to check that the values are working.

Finally, the hardest part was posing the character while maintaining likeness to the design and from the result I feel like I need to work more on that,

Overall, I really enjoyed creating my first character sheet^^
