My project in Architectural Sketching with Watercolor and Ink course

This project was challenging for me because I had to avoid over detailing the buildings and the street scapes. But the chance to express perspective and difficult colorations forced me to overcome my fear of color. It also forced me to not over-detail my sketches. Thus, following the instructor’s encouragement to not fear complex details. I learned to be more deliberate about directing the viewers eye onto the image using the rule of three (thirds?). Watercolor has not been a medium for me because it is unpredictable but now I’ve changed my mind, now welcoming its unpredictability.
