Here is a sneak peek look at the process behind my project. My main goal for this sketchbook was to loosen up and practice drawing subjects I admire looking at in real life but are intimidating for me to draw.
Collection of photos taken on walks, that includes houses, storefronts, stray animals, and objects that are fun and spark nostalgia for the world outside my home.
The drawings were done in a Moleskine pocket-sized sketchbook in order to set a reachable goal. The format was also helpful when it came to sizing the drawings and not adding too much detail. I used a black molotow marker and completed the sketchbook in about two months.
I scanned the pages and cleaned them up on photoshop. Then I decided on a theme and selected my favorite pieces and arranged them like a puzzle. During this, I thought about the placement and spaces between the objects like landmarks on a map. I added in small details linking parts of Seoul that reminded me of Mexico, like the tart taste of Plumb tea that reminded me of Ponche.
