The Mesa was a venture into working larger with ribbons of soothing and comforting colors.
I was originally inspired by my love for Georgia O'Keeffe and a poem by Robert W. Service called The Call of the Wild, my favorite excerpt is below:
Have you camped upon the foothills, have you galloped o'er the ranges,
Have you roamed the arid sun-lands through and through?
Have you chummed up with the mesa? Do you know its moods and changes?
Then listen to the Wild — it's calling you.
I created this piece using my favorite macrame knot, the clove hitch knot, and my own hand-dyed string. It took nearly 200 hours to create the entire piece after all was said and done and it was definitely worth it! Especially when it was accepted into a beautifully curated art show in my hometown city of Houston, Texas called The Big Show. It was the first exhibition show I have participated in and won't be the last!
If you want to read more about this piece take a peek at my website's blog here!
See you later!
