These are the third and final illustrations - three images telling the satirical tale of The Princess & the Pea by Hans Christian Andersen. On a stormy, windy night the princess waits, soaking wet at the castle gate, hoping that they will take her in. The king, queen and prince, although shocked, decide to give her bed for the night.
The queen orders the servants to pile twenty mattresses on top of each other, meaning the princess had to be helped up onto the bed. Once settled, the suspicious queen sneakily placed a pea in the middle of the mattresses. Apparently, if the princess could feel the pea, it would prove that she was, indeed, of royal blood and therefore suitable as a bride for the prince. The royal family of the 21st century are just as bonkers today as they were in medieval times.

PlusThis is awesome, June, I love it. You are simply great at capturing the expression in the faces of the royals;-)
Congrats!
