Illustrations for a collective notebook series

This illustration and vignette set were made for a series of notebooks where 11 illustrators and I got the chance to create a story around books and the reading experience.

The story I came up with is about a guy that spends his evening and night reading one book after another. You can see how he has his reading tools ready: glasses, a pencil to make notes and mark his favorite parts, snacks and a nice coffee. What I wanted by doing this sort of similar vignettes was to give the audience the chance to look at them up close. They are small, so by paying attention to them, little details that tell a subtle story start to emerge, and in my opinion that has a lot to do with books, where a body is still, but the mind is in constant work and the imagination having lots of fun.

My favorite part of this story are these details, like how the character is really moved on Beckett's book or how late in the night, the other houses in the neighborhood start going to bed and the avid reader just keeps devouring stories and poetry.

The cover of the notebook uses the elements of the story to form an excited face with all the books available to read, I really liked how it turned out and working on this project. I also enjoyed very much being part of a group of talented illustrators and seeing their completely different and cool takes on the subject.
