Miniature 3-D landscape view inspired by Salvador Dali's surreal scene painted on eleven sheets of glass.

This is the view from our Brisbane deck, looking out onto sub-tropical greenery and typical Queenslander homes. Inspired by Salvador Dali's scene, painted on 11 glass sheets, this was painted in several layers on acetate. Each layer was planned in advance according to distance from the deck. The painted areas were first blocked out in white house paint so the gouache/watercolour paints would adhere. The back layer (furthest from viewer) was painted completely in white to provide a back-drop. It also means the piece can be successfully illuminated from behind giving a very natural effect. The box was a simple craft box (approx 8 cms x 8cms x 20cms) with windows cut in either side. I eventually added individual elements (the palm tree) to create greater depth. It was fun and took hours but the result was worth it.
