Mandela Day Portraits

In Our Hands

This series was photographed on assignment for the Mandela Day campaign. After Nelson Mandela's passing his work lives on through his foundations, 46664 and Mandela Day. These pictures are of those who have pledged to continue his legacy, as his ambassadors. His work is in all our hands now.

In the course I show how I lit these images by recreating the sets for both the left and right sides, which are a mirror image of each other lighting wise. Black background with a white edge light on the left and white background with a dark edge on the right. I felt these images were good ones to breakdown, since several of the lighting principles discussed in the course come into play in both lighting schemes.
