Brand Identity for percussion duo, "pax duo".
When viewing this client, using Sagi Haviv's questions, here is what came forward:
What do you think about your current logo?
Because the client was coming to me to create their first logo we talked instead about the logos they see that they like and what qualities these logos they liked have. Qualities that stood out and continued to come up were; clean, hard lines, abstract, contrast, cohesion, simple.
You think the current logo has recognition in your audience?
Yes - I think what was developed is going to stand out within the percussion audience especially because this audience is not super design heavy...I think what this logo brings to this audience is the effect that a good logo can have for you/them as a musician.
Who are your audiences?
The percussion community
Local towns-persons who will watch the performances
Family
Friends
Music Educators
What is your vision for the future of your business in the next 5-10 years
Tour
Make an impression
Collaborate on a large scale
Pay musicians and creatives fairly
Use privilege to reframe the conversation around what percussion is and can mean
Who are your competitors
Third Coast percussion
So Percussion
Sandbox Percussion
If there was a single idea or feeling that could be distilled in your new logo, what should it be?
Connection, Collaboration
Do you have any idea about the color?
Yes - they liked the vintage color palettes and muted tones
The logo on the left is what I had created before this course - after this course, I altered the ends of the mark to retain their rounded edge but appear more box-y since the typeface itself is very boxy and sharp.
When looking at the logo on the right, before this change, it didn't seem to be as cohesive with a curved point.
The client actually has not yet responded with their feedback, so the mockups for this logo appear as the version with the curved point but the more box-y point may be added later - especially if the client feels there is an imbalance.
