This certainly was not a quick sketch, but even more enjoyable!
I knew from the very beginning that I want to draw one of my favorite buildings in my hometown, which is this pavilion (b.1900). For my main reference photo I used the actual architect's sketch. As I consider myself very much a beginner when it comes to drawing and painting, I thought that it would be easier to sketch. I used the copying trick that Felix showed for the main outlines. But I do have to admit that my quick preliminary sketch has more liveliness in it (although the proportions are off), because I did not have to worry about the outcome.
Since I am a person who loves vintage and everything that is old (and rusty), I decided to date this sketch to the beginning of the 20th century. I sketched The Edwardian Lady using the 50/50 technique (trying to look more the reference than paper).
I am pleased with the result. Although it is not as loose as I would like, but I feel that with more practice I will be bolder. Using watercolors is also a new thing for me and there is a lot to explore and learn!
If anyone has time to give me some feedback, I would very much appreciate it! I am eager to learn more and develop myself, thank you!
