This course was so much fun! My ultimate dream is to work in children's illustration, but ironically I am so intimidated by drawing actual child characters and their environments that I stick with animals instead! It's something I really want to improve on, though, so this course was utterly perfect for helping ease me into the process.
Going through the process of an ugly sketch, a clean sketch, and then the final piece was really beneficial, and I feel like I learned a lot.
I'm not 100% sure about my colour choices, and worry that there maybe isn't enough contrast, but overall, I'm really happy with my final piece! I've never worked on a picture like this before, and I really learned so much during the process. Thank you for such a wonderful course!

Profesor PlusHi Eli,
You wouldn't know this is your first piece like this, it looks really accomplished and the style is lovely.
I actually think the colours work really nicely and are very soft for the eye and your character feels realistically reacting to their environment creating a nice little narrative so I love this.
I think to push this piece further I'd add some more depth into the image as I think the toys on the floor look as if they are at the same level as the furniture which makes it look like a flat image (which can be a valid style!) but by making some objects bigger in the foreground and maybe even a toybox or larger object poking into frame at the bottom corners could make the scene feel more like we're peering into Alex's little world.
Great work and keep it up!
