This is somewhat more like me making a note of my own evolution for this course
************
When I started taking note on this project I slowed myself down by making the details on the pen.
And when I moved to the next topic on the right I shot my own foot by not giving enough space (which I learn later on to leave space around each block of text)
I used to be very conscious about my illegible handwritings, turnout, I have been writing too fast. This handwriting practice exercise slow me down a lot, in a good way. I'm more mindful when I write and realized my handwriting isn't so bad afterall (They are readable at the very least!)
This lesson remind me a lot of the typography class I took in college.
For this excercise I picked a few pages from Art Inc. by Lisa Congdon's Chapter 1: You Are An Artist
In my first attempt I tried the purple and hot pink combo. To be honest I don't think the combo itself is a problem, but since I used the hot pink only a few times it made the text too standout for my liking. I also feel like the sub-headers blend with the details.
Some of the quotes also seems way too long.
At one point, I forgot about writing slow and messed up the structure by using the all-caps for something I didn't mean too (and the other way round as well)
In the second attempt, I keep the colour simple and rewrite some of the texts.
I like the position of the first brain better, but it's time to move on.
I really like the diagram showing when to listen and when to take note. This helped a lot when I worked on sketchnoting a lecture.
Here I brainstorm some keywords and idea. The video was about passive income, however, I later learn this is a 3 video series, and they are not exactly about passive income. So I changed the title of my sketchnote later on.
After I finished the first sketchnote I felt the information was a bit too much for my liking and want to try a shorter presentation so I can play a bit more with space (Spoiler alert: I got too excited and ended up gave some of the sub-headers too much space)
Surprisingly I paused this video much more often than the previous one. Not quite sure if it's because Sam talks fast or because drawing it the subject that I'm too familiar and so I kept getting distract.
It's still good enough and I kind of like it. A few adjustment with the spacing and use different colour other than teal might be better though.
And that's all for my journey in this Sketchnote course. If you finish this, thank you so much! I hope you are enjoying it as much as I did.
