Growing up in the New York metro area, I loved going to musicals and operas as a child with my mom, a professional pianist. Inspired by the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York City, an iconic architectural symbol of Art Nouveau style, I replicated various design elements of the theater onto this cake, showcasing the stylistic components of Art Nouveau. Art Nouveau was characterized by arches, sinuous lines, and organic and natural forms, and was seen in architecture, interior design, posters, jewelry, and now, cake!
Medium: Edible coloring and royal icing on fondant, other dimensional elements in fondant
